Nokia T-Mobile Maemo Handset

,
Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is reportedly getting ready to launch to the market during the next year only one device that will run under the Maemo operating system. One thing that is certain here is that this is not in line with some of the latest  rumors regarding Nokia's plans to use Maemo on a far wider range of devices. According to a recent article on Reuters, the info on Nokia's Maemo plans for the  next year comes from “a source with direct knowledge of Nokia's product roadmap.” However, it seems that the company declined to comment on “future product plans.” Yet, there are  still great chances that the worldwide leading mobile phone maker will use its Linux-based operating system on a single smartphone during the next year. On the other hand, some of you might already be aware of the fact that the company  has been recently rumored to plan including Maemo on a great deal of future devices,m and that some people in the Maemo team from Nokia even suggested that the company  would replace Symbian in its future Nseries lineup by 2012. Nokia stated shortly  after that “the Maemo team said things that shouldn't have been said”, and even  added that it remained committed to the Symbian platform. “We remain firmly committed to Symbian as our smartphone platform of choice,”  the Nokia spokesman revealed, Reuters reports. In case only one handset from Nokia emerges on the market next year with Maemo on board, the rumors that Symbian will be replaced will certainly be proved false. However, we're sure that there are many users keeping their fingers crossed.

“Nokia will hold its capital markets day on Wednesday, an event where the firm
traditionally has outlined or updated its strategy for the coming 1-2 years,”
states Reuters, which means that we might be able to learn some more details on
the future of Maemo in only two days from now. Stay tuned for more info on this.
